Light By Michael Grant

Imagine all of Evanston and a part of Lake Michigan trapped in a sphere 20 miles in diameter and the sphere unable to be broken into or escape from and there inside this dome are kids from babies 2 months old to teens 15 years old, and in this place some of the people with powers some simply ordinary yet a darkness an evil that is all around monsters mutants ranging from huge talking coyotes starving ready to advance on any moving thing to snake like animals able to eat right through human flesh leaving nothing but bone. How do they survive? How do they remain in control? How do they stay safe? Light by Michael Grant is the 6th novel in the series called Gone, an action Si-Fi fiction book that describes the lives of multiple people each chapter, each section a different character like snapshot moments of their daily encounters with monsters and each others. Having romance and bloody battles death all over for over a year and now as the first year passes by the dome is now clear no longer is it a solid wall unable to see the outside world now both sides can see through, the outside world begins to learns of there hardships they have endure in the dome and yet so much more they still need to because it is the endgame the final battle is coming and no one knows how it will end out. Will the kids be able to go back into the real world or dye trying? This book is an eye catcher unable to put it down, the drama, the description of gruesome deaths and emotional love is an amazing part along with just the awe of thinking what if I could shoot lazer beams from my hands or be able to use telekinesis. This is a book I recommend to be read at one point it your life.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your blog of this book. Its sounds like a real page turner to me. I do have some questions, Are the kids mutants or are they just all together? Do you get any back story on how the mutants got in there? How was this giant dome just placed over this huge area? How is telling the story? Does it which from inside the dome to outside? What happened to all the parents of this kids? Are they dead or on the outside having to worry and look in? I'm already on the edge of my chair wanting to know what happens next! I am defiantly putting this series on my must read list! Can't wait to learn more!

  2. Wow! That lead was compelling! You know how to draw your audience into your book talk! You should do that for a book talk for the class. When was the book published? It kind of sounds like Stephen King's The Dome, doesn't it? Maybe without the mutants -- although, mutants in different ways, perhaps. I wondered if Grant was maybe inspired by King or vice-versa?

Sammi has asked some intriguing questions -- I will be eager to read your next post.
