Pendragon

I have started to read a mystery fictional book that is called Pendragon by DJ Machale and although I have not read much and has taken me some time to read through it I have learned to really like it and enjoy the little mystery that is of this young boy ripped away from his normal life in his normal school and taken on an adventure, a mission to save another world and to think that if he had known the real reason he was leaving his house with his uncle on that motorcycle the very first day he might have never been put in that situation but with all that he has seen with all that he has been though being shot at and chased by the strangest animals that would have killed him he has learned to except the strange ways of this other world and accept his role in taking as his uncle continues to tell him that it is his destiny to save the world that is not even his but he must. I am really looking forward to continuing to read and learn more on how exactly he is going forth in trying to save the planet with the help of his uncle. I think I really like this book and would recommend it to others because it is funny yet interesting to see a person with a normal everyday life being turn upside down and start this amazing adventure and experience.

  1. This story sounds really intense and interesting. I am curious to know what world the narrator has to save. And I want to know more about his uncle. It is a mystery but it sounds like a fantasy as well. That's quite a mixture. I'm glad you like it. I am intrigued by it.

  2. Why has it been difficult for you to get through? Is the prose difficult? Why do you think this type of story appeals to you?

  3. Oh my goodness the Pendragon series. That brings back memories. We have six of them on our bookshelf and I’m pretty sure there’s 10 total. Somehow I feel like the series was 50 books long though. It’s one of those series that are really good and entertaining in the beginning, so you devour them like crazy, but then they slowly slow down until you’re really just reading the last ones so that you can finally tie up the plot lines and be done with it. I don’t even remember any of maybe the last 2 or 3 books. I remember that I really enjoyed a lot of the earlier ones though. They were really popular in Myrtle Beach right when they came out. Everyone read them. My entire 6th grade (I think?) class had a sort of unofficial race to read them but it kinda failed because there were never enough copies at the library.
Maybe I’ll reread this series. They’re very good rainy day books.
I also remember being a little disturbed by the drawings of Bobby Pendragon on some of the later books. I’m not sure why that stuck with me. You have been warned
Have these been made into movies yet? I feel like they would’ve. They’re just that type of book, you know?
